PCNA 2025 Restoration Challenge custom build.1999 Porsche 996.1 generation 911 coupe in amethyst metallic with a black & beige leather interior.


This 1999 Porsche 911 Carrera coupe was modified by Porsche Owings Mills of Reisterstown, Maryland, as part of the 2025 Porsche Classic Restoration Challenge. The rear fenders were widened and the car was fitted with aerodynamic bodywork during the build, which included a repaint in Amethyst Metallic with Neodyme Gold side stripes, and the cabin was re-trimmed in Black and Savannah Beige full leather with carbon-back Corbeau GT3 996 seats. The 3.4-liter flat-six was re-sealed and provided with an IMS Retrofit kit, a 997-specification intake box, and a Fister-style exhaust modification. Additional changes include Ohlins coilover suspension, refinished brake calipers, a 997-specification shifter assembly, an early 986-sourced shift knob, and a rear-seat delete kit. This modified 996.1 coupe has 72k miles and is now offered by the selling dealer with a Porsche Production Specifications sheet, a seller-provided build summary, a clean Carfax report, and a Nevada title.

The car was refinished in Amethyst Metallic with Neodyme Gold side stripes during the build, and the rear fenders were custom-modified by hand to widebody specification without the use of replacement metal, per the selling dealer. The build also saw the installation of Aerokit-style Getty Design bodywork and a Carrera 4S-specification rear bumper cover. The windshield was replaced along with the body seals, rear lighting, and trim components, and the factory headlights were refinished.

Modular 18 Gemballa Competition wheels are finished in Neodyme Gold, and they are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires. The car has been fitted with Ohlins coilover suspension and replacement strut mounts, and the brake calipers were refinished and provided with replacement Porsche-script decals during the build.

Custom-trimmed in Black and Savannah Beige full leather, the cabin has been provided with carbon-fiber Corbeau GT3 996 seats. The rear seats were removed, Coco Mats were installed, and the window regulators were replaced during the build. Additional details include an early 986-sourced shifter knob and boot, a 997-specification shifter assembly, a cassette radio, cassette-tape storage trays, automatic climate control, cruise control, power windows, and central locking.

The 3.4-liter M96 flat-six was overhauled by Porsche Owings Mills of Reisterstown, Maryland. The process included installing an LN Engineering dual-row IMS Retrofit kit as well as replacing the air-oil separator, engine belts, starter motor, battery, and various gaskets, seals, and hoses. A 997-specification airbox with custom 3.4 script has been added along with a lightweight flywheel. A Fister-style exhaust modification has been performed, and the mufflers were refinished.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual transaxle. The clutch was replaced and a lightweight flywheel installed during the build. Additional photographs of the underside are shown in the gallery below.
